Great Links

This page is dedicated to the best sites and articles that we have recently found.  We don’t always agree with what we read, but we like to post links that cause us to see the world in different ways and broaden our perspectives.

If you have a link, a story or a comment that you think would be of interest, please send a message to info@Synappsys.ca.  Found a broken link?  Please let us know and we will fix it right away.

General Business

The Economist:  It is a big paper to read, even if it only comes out weekly.  But, it is a must.  We love the cheeky British writing style and their take-no-prisoners tell-it-like-it -is approach. Buy the magazine and take advantage of their on-line services.  We also subscribe to the Economist on Twitter.

HBR Blog:  You can argue that a lot of pabulum ends up here, but this is the Harvard Business Review, and you need to have some chops to get published by them.  You may have to dig a little, but there are gems.

Mind Tools:  This is a pay-for site with a fair amount of free stuff.  They have short pieces on just about every strategy, management, leadership etc. tool and book.  Generally informative, although each article tends to come up a little short.  Still, worth a visit.

Bloomberg / Business Week:  We subscribed to the print copy of the magazine for a while, and dropped it.  The economist made much better reading.  Their blog, however has some good stuff in it.

Strategy

Mind Tools:  As noted above – worth a visit.  You will see a lot of the tools that we regularly use.

Forrester and their Blog site are worth a visit.  This is a rich site with a strong Information Technology and Product Marketing resources.

Change Management

Under construction – we will post links here soon.

Canadian Government

Industry Canada If you are planning to do business in Canada, you need to connect with Industry Canada and understand the Industrial Regional Benefits (IRB) program.

Industry Canada – Aerospace and Defence  This is a good site.  Here are a few links to company directories:

Canadian Department of National Defence

Canadian Department of National Defence, Major Projects  Generally useful official pages.  It is always interesting to note what is not included in this list.

Canadian American Strategic Review  This is a good, if not an occasionally controversial, look at defence in Canada.  It includes editorials which you may not agree with, background on projects, opinions on programs, a section on arctic sovereignty and articles with intriguing and sometimes off-the-wall proposals.  Often good reading, but watch the publication dates for articles as they can be slightly stale.

Dave Pugliese’s Defence Watch  Love him or leave him, we all read him.  Check out the “Active Tags” section to link into archived stories by program / platform / issue / person.

Others

CIA World Fact Book  A great summary of geographical and political data on every country on the planet, from our friends with dark suits, curly earpieces, a fleet of drones and lots of antennas on the roof.

Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI)

Aerospace Industry Association of Canada (AIAC)
