Gordon has had a lifelong passion for Aerospace, with a tilt towards systems engineering. Although his work today crosses a wide range of industries and provides strategic consulting on mix of topics, he remains engaged and fascinated by all things that fly.
Gordon has worked for: Canadair, now Bombardier, in various capacities on the CL-600 program; SPAR Aerospace, as a spacecraft systems engineer; Canadian Astronautics Ltd in the area of airborne defense electronics; at his own company, Excalibur Systems Ltd in defense simulation, training and Electronic Warfare; and at General Dynamics Canada in the areas of large program capture and strategy for Air and Naval Systems with an emphasis on Airborne ISR systems.
In addition, many of our Partners and Affiliates have deep operational backgrounds and experience with a range of Defense, Commercial and Space issues and requirements.
Gordon understands aircraft and ISR systems / integration
- Master’s Degree in Aircraft Design from Cranfield University in Bedfordshire England
- Licensed Private Pilot
- Very familiar with ISR System solutions on fixed and rotary wing aircraft and UAS at business, programmatic, marketing and technical levels
- Was Program Director for the CP-140 Aurora AIMP program at GD
- Has intimate familiarity with ISR mission systems and sensors
- Understands spacecraft and broadband data backhaul systems and issues
- Very familiar with UAV/UAS (drone) systems, capabilities, limitations, performance, etc.
- We have trusted partners in this domain, particularly in the ares of ISR integration, defense air program management, Air Force fleet support and military operations.
Gordon has insights into Canadian DND airborne systems programs
- Worked extensively on the FWSAR file for over a decade and recently supported the winning Airbus C-295 proposal as the Canadian Bid Manager. Contract potentially worth $4.7 billion Canadian Dollars
- Has in depth understanding of the JUSTAS system through many years of pursuit leadership and close interaction with General Atomics
- Knows the Aurora AIMP program well from the inside
- Very familiar with the overall MHP program while working at GD Canada
- Has done a great deal of work on Arctic Surveillance and data backhaul
- Gordon knows the competitive landscape and personalities
- Understands the issues around Canadian content and long term domestic fleet in-service support – Led the development of a report for the Industry Canada Aerospace Review Secretariat, “Approaches to In-service Support (ISS), Optimized Weapon System Support (OWSS) and Single point of Accountability (SPA)“
